A fundraising initiative held by the Ripley Agricultural Society has turned out to be very successful.
At least 800 boxes of meat, provided by Elmira Chicken, were distributed on Nov. 12. Cars lined up for pick up as volunteers brought out their orders.
The Society took on the meat and chicken sale after it was decided that it couldn’t be managed through Ripley Huron Community School, because of pandemic restrictions.
A portion of funds raised will be donated to the school parent group to fund student activities, part was donated to support the Ripley Lions Club Christmas Hamper program and another portion will be used to fund renovations needed for the roof of the Society building, said president Paul Harris. “The school couldn’t do it and we knew it was a good product.”
The Society announced Julie Thompson as the winner of the October photo contest and it is now accepting submissions for the November competition. Anyone is welcome to submit one photo per month, staying with the theme set by the Society. The November theme is remembering our veterans. Photos should be submitted by email to email@example.com.
