When it comes to buying furniture, UK shoppers can’t seem to get enough of IKEA.
And as we’re days away from Black Friday – which this year falls on November 27 – we’re all looking for ways to maximise our savings and pick up a bargain.
From copper pots and pans and stylish bed throws to swanky new kitchens and clever bathroom storage, IKEA is home to hundreds of items on our dream home wish lists.
But while it would be nice to make some savings before Christmas – it’s bad news, shoppers.
The store has issued quite a disappointing update.
Earlier this year, IKEA announced that it would be launching its new BuyBack initiative, giving shoppers the chance to ‘sell back’ their old furniture.
Set to launch on Black Friday 2020, the store planned to accept items including desks, tables and shelving – and if your furniture is in good nick, you could make up to 50 per cent of the price the item is currently being sold for.
But as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to shake the retail industry, IKEA has announced a major change to its Black Friday plans for this year.
A spokesperson for IKEA said: “Whilst we had hoped to launch our new BuyBack service on Black Friday, we’ve sadly had to delay it due to the current lockdown and the temporary closure of our stores.”
The BuyBack initiative will be postponed until early 2021.
The company stated: “Throughout the pandemic, our primary focus has been the safety of our customers and co-workers and the delay in its launch allows stores to focus on a safe and comfortable re-opening once restrictions have lifted.
“We look forward to giving a second life to many more IKEA products and creating more easy and affordable solutions to help people live more sustainably at home.”
And as for regular Black Friday sales and deals offered by retailers across the UK – there’s more bad news.
The spokesperson added: “As in previous years, we won’t be taking part in Black Friday sales.”
But IKEA fans can still track down some savings.
If you visit the offers page on the IKEA website, you’ll still find a whole host of online bargains.
Current offers include buy one get one free on selected VINTER 2020 Christmas decorations.
You can also get 3 for 2 on selected FENOMEN candles and 15 per cent off selected seasonal lighting.
And IKEA is also offering 20pc off selected DUKTIG accessories, £30 discounts on SYMFONISK table lamps and 20pc off GLADOM tray tables.
