“The Mandalorian” may have added a “Star Wars” legends character back into the canon.
The most recent episode of “The Mandalorian” featured the epic return of Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), who fought alongside Mando in their fight against the Empire.
- Fett later revealed his armor belonged to him since his father was previously a Mandalorian. Fett showed off a chain code message to prove it.
Decoding the chain code
A Reddit user decided to decode the rest of the chain code. After doing so, it was revealed that another character from the noncanon “Star Wars” expanded universe might be canon after all.
The entire chain code read:
- Took Into
- The Year The
- Concord Dawn
- Mentor Jast
- Father Fett
- Boba Fett
“Concord Dawn” is a reference to Jango Fett’s home planet.
“Mentor Jast” would then likely be a reference to Jaster Mereel, according to IGN. Jaster is the adoptive father of Jango Fett.
- Jaster helped rescue Jango in the “Jango Fett: Open Seasons” comic series years ago, which was a part of the noncanon “Star Wars Legends” series, according to IGN.
The bigger picture
Slowly, aspects of the “Legends” canon — which was established before Disney bought Lucasfilm — have slowly been working their way back into the current canon. This includes adding the planet Tython into the new “Star Wars” lore, which could hint that Darth Bane and other legends figures exist in the current storyline.
