A Victoria Police officer has been filmed smoking in a non-smoking area, much to the delight of those on social media where the footage is circulating.
Video of the female officer smoking next to a sporting field was uploaded to TikTok on Friday.
She is seen standing next to her police car with a cigarette in her mouth.
The person filming zooms in on a sign mere metres from the officer which reads “smoke free zone”.
It’s not known if anyone else was using the field at the time or when the video was taken.
In Victoria, smoking at or in the vicinity of an outdoor sporting venue can attract a $826 fine under the Tobacco Act 1987.
Victoria Police declined to comment when approached by Yahoo News Australia about the footage.
However a police spokesperson told MailOnline officers are allowed to smoke during meal or rest breaks on shift.
“Police members are not allowed to smoke within five metres of all entrances, windows, air conditioning ducts and other ventilation points,” they added.
“Officers are not allowed to smoke inside a police vehicle.”
