Ikea Birmingham still exists – despite closing its Birmingham store – and it has confused one shopper.
The people of Wednesbury – where the Swedish furniture brand is based – have long spoken out about the fact Ikea Birmingham is not actually anywhere near the city.
And one duped shopper raged at the location description after travelling to the city centre to find the chain’s old Dale End store – which is more than 11 miles away – long since closed down.
The customer – known as Dean – revealed he queued for a parking space to collect his order only to find the Birmingham city centre store no longer existed on Monday, December 21.
Realising his mistake, the miffed shopper headed to Primark during his shopping trip to the city.
But Dean was left still more enraged when he discovered the actual location of the Ikea branded as the Birmingham branch.
He said: “Going IKEA – wish me luck
“Birmingham store doesn’t exist anymore, just queued to park in the city for nothing, going Wednesbury tomorrow
“To add insult they have renamed the Wednesbury store the Birmingham store – so their website said ‘Birmingham’ had stock.”
Others have also taken to social media to vent their frustration.
One said: “Why on earth is called Ikea Birmingham as it is NOWHERE near the city.”
While another added: “Ikea Birmingham should be called Ikea Wednesbury!”
The company has been contacted for a comment.
