Dates, logo decided for 2022 Streetsboro Bicentennial

Streetsboro Bicentennial

Streetsboro residents can mark the Streetsboro Bicentennial celebration on their 2022 calendar.

The celebration will take place over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, 2022. The event, from entertainment to parking, committee chair Mike Kuhstos said, is planned to be entirely free to guests.

Kuhstos said the committee has chosen a logo out of several designs. The main part of the logo depicts a script “Streetsboro” with a golden rocket blasting off just behind it. Below it is a red banner showing the years “1822-2022.” Above is the word “bicentennial” in red and blue lettering.

The group largely agreed on that design, Kuhstos said, because it has red white and blue colors as well as heavily features a rocket and the number “200.”

Kuhstos said they group has agreed that a parade and historical reenactments will be a part of the celebration as will Streetsboro Bicentennial merchandise. The goal is to have items such as t-shirts, ornaments and mugs with the logo on it available for purchase around September for Christmas gifts.

Kuhstos, who is also the treasurer of the Streetsboro Heritage Foundation, has recently reviewed media coverage of the city’s 1972 sesquicentennial celebration. A list of activities from Streetsboro’s 150th birthday included tug-o-war, helicopter rides and a Ms. Streetsboro contest. He said reviewing information about the centennial and sesquicentennial celebrations made him think about how long the upcoming bicentennial will be remembered.
